Description

Fulltime contract position for Senior Technical Architect (10+ years experience) in Ottawa.
Candidates must have at minimum a Reliability Status Security Clearance from CIISD.

Duties

Duties may include but are not limited to:

assist with setup of "Boot from SAN" ESX Clusters (virtual swap file location).
assist with configuration of VMware network (nic teaming, vswitches, port groups, vlan tagging, service console and vmkernel).
assist with creation of VMware storage architecture (datastores).
assist with vCenter server installation along with Update Manager and license server.
assist with VMware Security Settings ( hardening both ESX and Guest OS,Securing ESX server via authentication/permissions, Roles/Responsibilities and Server Console security).
assist with creation of different Virtual Machines OS's ( if good candidate to be virtualized,optimal resource configurations).
assist in supplying advice on Basic VMware Administration ( Day-to-Day, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly)once environment is up and running (monitoring log files,setup of alerts/alarms, creations of templates/clones (MS Sysprep), use of snapshots, 3rd party tools to manage environment).
assist in documentation of VMware installation procedures and Administration.
assist in setting up proper mechanism to manage ESX/OS licenses.

Skills

10+ years of experience as a Technical Architect performing tasks such as:

Developing technical architectures, frameworks and strategies, either for an organization or for a major application area, to meet the business and application requirements.
Identifying policies and requirements that drive out a particular solution.
Analyzing and evaluate alternative technology solutions to meet business problems.
Ensuring the integration of all aspects of technology solutions.
Evaluating hardware and software relative to their ability to support specified requirements and, by determining potential and actual bottlenecks, and improve system performance through recommended hardware changes.
Reviewing computer software systems and data requirements as well as communication and response needs and determine operating systems and languages needed to support them.

Education

Technical Architect must hold VMware Certification.
