PLIX & ALIX Experiments
The Pacific Littoral Integrated Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance Experiment (PLIX) and the Atlantic Littoral Integrated Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance Experiment (ALIX) experiments were part of the Canadian Forces C4 ISR (Command & Control, Computer and Communication) initiative.
PLIX took place in Tofino, British Columbia. The experiment made use of an Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and Uninhabited Surface Vehicle (USV).
ALIX took place in Ottawa, Ontario. The experiment made use of two types of UAVs.
During these experiments, iFathom provided administrative support as part of a 6-person team from 2003 to 2005 with the Canadian Forces Experimentation Centre in Ottawa. Our responsibilities included administration of over 1400 military and civilian personnel, more than $12 Million in finances, document administration and experiment co-ordination activities.
The experiment co-ordination activities included 5 major conferences that involved a number of departments within DND (Army, Navy, and Air Force), other government departments, NATO and other allies and industry representatives from companies that included Telesat Canada, General Atomics (GA-ASI), Thales, Schriner Canada and IAI.
